Freelance Camera & Digital Tech
Catalog Photography, Runway Shows and Brand Content
August S. Productions, Inc. — San Diego, California
August S. Productions, Inc. is seeking a dependable freelance Camera and Digital Technician for occasional catalog photography, garment fittings, runway presentations, and short-form brand content.
This is project-based gig work for a small apparel and media company. We need someone who can take responsibility for the technical side of a shoot and keep the photography system working smoothly from setup through final file delivery.
The ideal person does not need to be a high-end fashion photographer. We are primarily looking for someone with strong practical experience operating and troubleshooting cameras, flashes, lighting equipment, computers, tethering software, memory cards, cables, batteries, and digital image files.
Primary Responsibilities
Catalog and Product Photography

Set up and operate digital cameras for apparel catalog photography.
-
Confirm proper focus, exposure, white balance, resolution, and image format.
-
Assist with consistent framing and camera placement across multiple garments and models.
-
Connect the camera to a computer or monitor for tethered shooting when required.
-
Watch incoming images during the shoot and identify technical problems immediately.
-
Maintain consistent lighting and camera settings throughout each catalog session.
-
Assist with basic product, model, fitting, and behind-the-scenes photography.
Runway and Live Event Support
-
Prepare cameras, lenses, flashes, batteries, memory cards, tripods, cables, and backup equipment before the event.
-
Test all equipment before models enter the runway.
-
Operate a camera or provide technical standby support during runway presentations.
-
Adjust quickly for changing movement, lighting, distance, and runway conditions.
-
Help prevent equipment failures, missed images, corrupted cards, dead batteries, and file-loss problems.
-
Remain available during the full event to troubleshoot camera, flash, computer, or storage issues.
Digital Capture and File Management
-
Transfer images safely from cameras and memory cards to the company computer or storage system.
-
Create organized folders and use clear, consistent file names.
-
Separate catalog looks, models, products, runway sequences, and behind-the-scenes images.
-
Make at least one backup before deleting or formatting any memory card.
-
Check files for focus, exposure, completeness, duplication, and corruption.
-
Prepare selected images for review by the company.
-
Provide basic cropping, rotation, exposure correction, color correction, and file conversion when requested.
-
Export usable high-resolution files and properly sized web or social-media copies.
-
Protect company images and maintain confidentiality before product launches.
